Total Time: PRs Create → Review

The total amount of time (in seconds) that all pull requests waited from when they were first submitted until someone provided the first review or feedback.

Interpretation

  • Low Values (e.g., < 2 hours / PR) indicates very responsive team with quick review initiation, good review capacity and team availability. Verify review quality isn't compromised by speed.
  • Medium Values (e.g., 2-8 hours / PR) is a easonable response time for most teams, common for well-functioning development. Monitor for consistency and team workload balance.
  • High Values (e.g., > 8 hours / PR) - slow response to code submissions. Potential Issues: insufficient reviewer capacity, team members unavailable or overloaded, poor review process or communication.
  • Time zone issues in distributed teamsSmall Teams (< 5 developers): expect higher totals due to limited reviewer pool. Focus over quality over speed, ensure thorough reviews. Large Teams (> 10 developers): expect lower totals due to more reviewer availability. Distributed Teams: expect higher totals due to time zone differences. Focus on asynchronous review processes.
