AI Providers & BYOK
Choose which AI provider powers Waydev's AI features — AI Insights, AI Studio chat, and metric predictions. You can use Waydev's own infrastructure or bring your own Anthropic or OpenAI API key (BYOK).
Active AI Provider
Pick one of three options at the top of the page:
| Provider | What it does |
|---|---|
| Waydev Managed | Uses Waydev's built-in Claude infrastructure. No API keys or setup needed — this is the default. |
| Anthropic Claude | Uses your own Anthropic API key and your choice of Claude model. |
| OpenAI | Uses your own OpenAI API key, with support for custom and compatible endpoints. |
Each provider card shows its current state: Not Configured, Configured, Connected once a connection test has passed, or Invalid Key if the stored key has stopped working.
Selecting a provider doesn't take effect until you select Save Settings at the bottom of the page. A reminder appears there whenever you have unsaved changes.
Set up Anthropic
- Select Get API Key to open the Anthropic console, and create a key there.
- Paste it into Anthropic API Key. Use the eye icon to check what you've pasted.
- Choose a Default Model.
- Select Test Connection to verify the key before committing to it.
- Select Save Settings.
Set up OpenAI
- Select Get API Key to open the OpenAI platform, and create a key there.
- Paste it into OpenAI API Key.
- Choose a Default Model.
- Optionally set a Custom API Endpoint. Leave it blank for OpenAI's own endpoint; set it when routing through Azure OpenAI or a private gateway.
- Select Test Connection, then Save Settings.
